Welcome to my blog. This is the first for me so please feel free to share thoughts on this blog.
It has been over a year that I have changed my eating habits drastically. I started off with taking out gluten, dairy and all refined sugars and processed food. I remember the first month all I thought about was food what I was going to eat next or what I could not eat. I ate so many veggies that my husband said I smelled like a vegetable. That was due to the detoxification I was going through. After the first month was over it be came a way of life. Now i am onto the second phase becoming vegan. I have done research and watched lots of documentaries on veganism. But unfortantly most vegans are only vegans because of cruelty to animals. It bothers me that they are offended about killing animals but will eat tons of processed foods and soybean products to make up for the lack of animal protien in their diet. So its taken me a while to grasp the idea of being vegan and healthy. I was not sure my body could take not having meat. I struggle with my sugars and have always had crashes if I didn’t eat right.
We, my husband and I have started a almost vegan diet due to the fact that we found out his cholesterol is out of control. Knowing it would be to hard for him to do it by himself I said we would be vegan together. Well almost vegan. So 2 weeks ago we went off of meat. We do eat eggs in moderation. The first week was very hard not knowing what to make. Here i am very healthy but still stuck i rut with eating the same foods.
So now we eat veggies all day long. One of the best things we started doing is juicing again. I cant believe this whole week I haven’t even had eggs. I haven’t felt the need for them. The vegetables and fruits and nuts we are eating are giving me tons of energy. I do drink a vegan protein shake on the days I teach yoga or days I know I will be very busy and not home to prepare good foods for us.
I have learned to make my own nut butters. By the way they are the best. I will be posting more recipes I like on my FB page so stay tuned. Oh and I am a coffee lover but I definitely find my afternoon coffee break is not really necessary anymore. If I drink it its cause I love the comfort of it, not to get me through the next few hours.
Let me know your thought on being vegan or vegetarian I would love to here from you.
