Casa Jenga is the perfect cross between modern and minimal. We started out this trip to do with less and to see how others in a 2nd class world live. Our location is right on the beach with a beautiful view all day. The peace and serenity is surreal. Though can be a little constant at times. For those of us with busy lives, slowing down is hard from time to time. Some days I have withdrawals others like today are amazing. Being able to stop and think and have time to write just hearing the waves roll in and roll out. Yesterday we went for a drive. We drove inland for a while, stopped at a restaurant along the road, while we were there we noticed the quietness of the area. Being by the ocean there is a constant noise or sound which ever way you want to view it. Then there is the rain every evening. (rainy season here). It gets dark around 6pm every night and if there is rain we have to be indoors so we end up trying to watch something on the computer. TV is in Spanish so we cant watch it if we want to understand. The rain can be so loud we cant hear a word, we have to wear ear phones.
The first day was a rude awakening when I went to take a shower and there wasn’t any hot water. I dislike cold water very much. My first thought was how am I going to do this, no hot showers for 5 weeks. I even emailed the property manager thinking the hot water was turned off but he assured me, no there is no hot water tank. So now I have to shower with a pot of hot water and a cup. Plus wash dishes with boiled water on the stove. Good thing I learned how to camp at a young age. It all came back to me. I have to share with you how we sleep here at Casa Jenga. The picture above shows the concrete slab. All there is on that is a 3 inch mattress. Picture below. And good thing I brought my light weight travel blanket because all they have here are sheets. I know its warm and all but I like a little blanket to sleep with. If anything else to help keep the mosquitoes from biting me.
You learn real fast how to do with out and make lemonade with limes:)
